Vransko lake Nature park

Vransko Lake is a natural phenomenon, located in Central Dalmatia on a conjunction of two cities, thus you can find private rental in Zadar or Sibenik. It is the largest natural lake in Croatia divided from the sea only by a narrow land cover, as if there was a battle between the sea and the land once a long time ago, and the land had won, but only under condition to keep the pearl of extraordinary beauty, Vransko Lake, is in its ravine. The most noteworthy area of the Park is the ornithological reserve which, due to its exceptional biodiversity and the preservation of swamp in the northwestern part of the lake, was listed as a particularly important ornithological area in Europe in 1983. Up to now 256 species of birds have been spotted here, owith 102 species nesting in the Park area. All these birds have found everything they need for a perfectly happy life in Vrana Lake. The trunk that resembles a lawn is painted with plashes and puddles dressed in endless flowers of lavish colours, protruding among haystacks and horns. Numerous insects and colourful butterflies form cheerful clouds floating over the waters. Below the mirror surface, many fish species float lazily. Perhaps the liveliness of the Lake gave it the name "Cheerful Lake", which was once used, but today it is named after Little Vranac, the bird that has the biggest nest here. About 100,000 birds are wintering in Vrana Lake, and many are endangered on a European scale. Lakes have always been places where people lived, thus it is no miracle that there are finds suggesting that Vrana was inhabited 2000 years before Christ. Today, there are many educational workshops in the Park, along with organized and guided groups of visitors, but the arrival of a group must be announced at least a week earlier. You can walk, hike or drive bikes, and the cost of the Park's tour program is 30 kunas and up. Additionally, you can taste the specialities here that offer fruits of warm and sour waters of the lake, such as frogs, which are undoubtedly more delicious than chicken, especially in their natural environment.
