The St. Stephen Cathedral (whose construction began in the 14th century), along with the Bishop's Palace (from 19th century), is located on the largest square of Dalmatia - the St. Stephan Square, known as Piazza of Hvar. The cathedral is dedicated to St. Stephen, Pope and Martyr, the patron of the diocese and the city of Hvar. In the Cathedral you can see the icon of the Madonna kept from the 13th century, the oldest image of the art fund on island Hvar, while in the Pontifical museum, which is located next to the cathedral, you can introduce a valuable collection of art, liturgical vestments, paintings, plates, archival documents, books and lace. The Pontifical museum is open for visitors from 9 til 12 am and from 16 to 18 pm.
