St. Nicolas Peak Hvar

For cyclists and those looking for something different to experience on holiday, St. Nicholas Peak on the island of Hvar is an ideal destination. You can exit from Jelsa to the west, after 300 meters of asphalt road, following the markings, you will come to a long gravel road exactly 5 km long. The gravel road is set in concrete at the steeper places thus the driving is easier. The road leads through the fields of lavender, through shady woods and fertile vineyards. The rise is less severe at the end, but the gravel road passes through a grove of pine trees. Your effort will be rewarded at the end by a magnificent look at the beautiful lavender fields and vineyards in the midst of the island that you went through. If you are on your bike, you can only drive till some point wing signs with the tag pedestrian way to the top.
After 20 minutes of walking, following the markings, you can climb to the top of St. Nicholas, with a small church and cross. The peak offers a unique panorama of all the islands of Central Dalmatia: Hvar with the remainder of the fields to the east and the Pakleni islands to the west, Solta, Brac, Korcula, Lastovo, Vis, Peljesac peninsula, the continent's mountains Mosor and Biokovo. St. Nicolas is ideal for hiking and active vacation for those who have rented accommodation in Hvar
