Skrivanat tower Pag

The medieval town of Pag, which has grown stone in the 15th century had been the target of various conquests from Venetian to those of haiduks. The defense of the city was not easy on the island dissolved like a shell. Fortunately, the stone was abundant and, therefore, many buildings were built whose grandiosity can be the envy of virtuous of contemporary architecture. The city of Pag was surrounded by powerful walls which were merged into nine points. That points were marked by towers, patrons and protectors, whose beauty we can only imagine today. However, it is not difficult to move, at least for a moment, in the world of the past, because the city enchanters us with his petrified, jet friendly beauty. One of the nine defensive towers remained as the confirmation and the witness of the turbulent history of Pag. Alone, but not lonely. Skrivanat tower. The tower, which has always been the first in line of defense of the island, the northernmost point, exposed to the strikes of the sea. Although that tower was built in the 15th century, it still looks exactly the same as if it is frozen in time, with high head up to the sky. Everything that surrounds it has changed - once was the sea, and today is about 50 meters away from the coast. The forgotten catacombs and secret passages were left inside the tower, but its other premises are fully exposed to the public gaze. Shows, concerts, workshops and other events are held inside the tower today, whose program you can choose and, of course, join.
