Šibenik Kalelarga is the most famous city street that we will undoubtedly pass through if we rent accommodation in Šibenik. Kalelarga connects the main city square with the Cathedral and leads through the center to the sea. Like the famous street in Zadar, Kalelarga has been praised and has retained its name through the centuries, despite the changes in power and local politics that led to alterations in the names of this street. Šibenik Kalelarga is one street, although citizens often distinguish between the lower and upper parts. The street forks at the entrance to the Šibenik core, but old Šibenik residents know very well that the left (lower) street is Kalelarga. The other branch belongs to Masna (Greasy Street, which acquired its name due to the numerous taverns it once housed. Kalelarga is the lifeline of the city center, lined with the picturesque shop windows of various stores, with narrow alleys branching off, forming the vibrant tissue of the city. To walk through Kalelarga and reach the square by the Cathedral is to be captivated by the beauty of the Mediterranean city reflected in the polished stone beneath our feet.
