Samobor Old Town

Samobor Old Town is a fortress from the 13th century commissioned by the Czech king Ottokar. You will not find the splendor of many noble families that ruled Samobor through the centuries, changing and living in it, because today the castle is just a ruin. The centuries-long transformation process of the fortress, through the periods of the Renaissance and Baroque, can now be seen in the Samobor Museum. Here, one can enjoy the tranquility and power of nature, to which the remains of the Samobor Old Town are slowly surrendering. Every year in spring, the Battle of Samobor is reenacted here, an entertaining event that revives a historical event from 1441. The status as a tourist attraction was confirmed when the ruins served as a backdrop for the famous movie "Armour of God" starring Jackie Chan.
