Maritime Museum in Orebic has already been listed for several times as the best places to visit in Croatia. It was founded in 1957 and it offers a broad insight into the maritime history of Orebic and Peljesac peninsula. Here you can see almost a thousand exhibits, which are mostly by donated numerous Orebic maritime families. In the main hall on the first floor you'll find the history of the Peljesac Maritime Association through an intriguing collection of binoculars, models and paintings of sailing ships and boats, atlases, nautical map, compass and barometer. Museum has an archaeological part, as well, where you can hear a story of ancient, Roman and pagan times through artifacts from the mentioned period, mostly objects that were used in everyday life. Here you'll embark all the world seas following trace of sailors who once sailed from Peljesac searching for happiness and well-being. Maritime tradition of Orebic started to sink with the advent of steamships with sailing ships have sailed into museums such as this one is. But the skill and discipline of sailors never will be left to oblivion. The museum is open until 10 pm in summer and 7 pm in winter times.
