No one was born to please a man, it is an old saying, but the one who came to it was never on the island of Ist in the Zadar archipelago. The island can be reached by ferries and catamarans from Zadar and Mali Losinj or by private and sailing boats that will find anchorage in two harbours on the island. The island has an interesting shape, like two horseshoes joined in its curved part - right there the island is the thinnest, and the land connecting two coves is short. One bay keeps the ferry port Ist, and the other the only settlement on the island. A sandy beach Ist is in that other cove in the village. In fact, both coves have their own beaches so you can easily walk from one beach to another regarding the winds that blow and choose the beach with the one less unpleasant. There are a few cafés and three restaurants offering delicacies from top quality fresh fish, but the true value of this beach is the peace and the clear sea and plenty of sunny hours in the summer months. The Ist has 200 permanent residents, and in the season this number doubles so the crowds on the beach actually do not exist. A view of the island of Molat in the south-east and a number of small islets surrounding Ist will be drawn to the charts of your heart, and if you have booked an accommodation in Ist, you will never forget the quiet hours on the Ist beach.
