The Great Beach Omiš

The Omis Riviera is famous for its many pebble and sandy beaches. The most famous is the Omiš town beach which is located in the center of Omiš in the part of the town called Punta. Punta is at your fingertips and it takes only a few minutes of walking if you rent an apartment, room or vacation house in Omiš, to lay your towels on the Great Beach. The Great Beach in Omiš offers a lot more than lying on the sand and enjoying the sea pleasures. It's 700 meters long and it is the source of joy to numerous swimmers, parents with children and youth who find fun hours in a number of the activities here: volleyball, soccer, sailing, jet skiing. The sandy beach in Omiš is completely natural due to the mouth of the Cetina River, and the coastal line is boarded by the pine and tamarisk plantations with abundant natural shade. Still, on the Great Beach you can rent parasols and sun loungers and enjoy some of the charming bars and restaurants that offer local cuisine specialities. There is a public parking place near the beach, and the beach has secured access for people with disabilities. A slight crowd in the summer months can easily be replaced by the more peaceful west end of the beach where the sea is several degrees cooler due to the penetration of fresh water from Cetina river.
