The ferry port Gaženica in Zadar has grown from the need of extra wharves, which were chronically lacking in the city harbor in the old core of Zadar. That is why new Zadar port Gaženica has been built, along with land and maritime infrastructure. The two-lane highway leads from town to the harbor, and the harbor is just around the corner from Zemunik, just 10 kilometers away from the Airport. Terminal buildings and waiting areas, parking and pumps, all meet international standards, thus most of the local ferry traffic is diverted here. The port of Gaženica has the possibility of simultaneous loading and unloading of passengers, cars, and cargo for 7 ferries on local lines, 2 international boats up to 200 meters, and 3 cruisers 350 meters long. With the ability to accept cargo ships at the same docks, Gaženica is a modern port with an adequate capacity of a Mediterranean port like the city of Zadar is. Gaženica extends over 250,000 square meters, with a depth of 13 to 15 meters. The port is open for traffic in 2015, with all works completed two years later. The ferry port is connected by regular bus lines to all the most important points in the city, and it is easy to find accommodation in private apartments, rooms and holiday houses in Zadar before or after the navigation of the overwhelming blue Adriatic. Calm sea!
