Žirje is an island of 16.2 km2, with the highest peak of 131 meters, connected with Šibenik by boat lines. Due to its rich history, there are more cultural assets on the island: the parish church of St. Mary with preserved parts from 1480, two fortresses from the 6th century, Gradina and Gušterne, five-storey bunja Stari stan, and a submarine archaeological site where many amphoras were found. There are 451 plant species on the island, dominated by macaws and some pine forests, among vineyards, figs, olives, plums and almond trees. Žirje has eight pits and caves, and twenty-nine coves, well-known to sailors. It is surrounded by seventeen islets and cliffs rising from the crystal clear sea where, apart from numerous fishing points, we can often spot the game of dolphins. In addition, Žirje offers several restaurants, cafes, country farms, a 22 km bicycle trail and an accommodation in apartments and rooms with pleasant Mediterranean ambience.
