Zigante Truffle Days in Livade near Oprtalj is a fair held every weekend of October every year and are a unique invitation to visit the area that we call the Motovun Forest, which stretches from Motovun in the Southwest to Oprtalj in the North. Livade is a settlement in Oprtalj Municipality, known as the centre of truffle, mostly due to the fact that more than 50 thousand people visit this small Istrian town during 5 weekends in October. They come from all over Croatia, neighbouring Slovenia, Italy, Austria, but also Germany, China, America. Truffle hunters who exchange experiences or just people with a refined palate who come here to taste specialties, not only of white and black truffles from the Motovun Forest, but also olive oil, Istrian prosciutto and cheeses, wine and other autochthonous Istrian dishes. Zigante Truffle Days in Livade is the opportunity for experience and inspiration, hedonism and relaxation, but also an opportunity to fill our winter pantry with the top products of the Istrian countryside. Accommodation in Oprtalj or Motovun can be found in private apartments and holiday houses, and we can try ourselves at hunting for our own truffle on Zigante Truffle Days, which ripens right here at this time of year.
