Zagreb Film Festival
Zagreb Film Festival was launched in 2003. Sofia Coppola, Andrej Zvjagincev, Tom Ford, Xavier Dolan, Steve McQueen and the other celebrated filmmakers, once had represented their first films in Zagreb at this festival, which has always presented and promoted new authors. Once debutant, today recognized and the world's famous directors, have won prizes at the ZFF at the awards program. There are several main categories: Feature Films, Short Feature Films, Checkers Program (shorts debutant), PLUS (Competitive High School), HT Audience Award, Together Again (projections of new movies by old authors of ZFF). The main prizes of the main categories are the Golden Pram, except in the category Again with us where the Golden Bicycle is awarded. There are also concurrent programs out of competition: Great 5, Bibijada, Dan Lux and My first movie. In the days of the ZFF, the whole city is breathing in the rhythm of the film ribbon turning, and the festival locations are numerous: Europe cinema, Tuškanac, Museum of Contemporary Art, Dokukino, Academy of Dramatic Art, HUB385 and House of Europe leave their halls, lobbies and bars to film lovers and experts. The Zagreb Film Festival has grown into the most important cultural event in Croatia for over ten years, with numerous fresh and intriguing titles that are presented here to the local audience. ZFF is also a unique opportunity for promoting domestic authors. It is held every year at the beginning of November, at a time when there are not enough beds in apartments, rooms and vacation houses in Zagreb. November is a hot month in Zagreb, a month for hot chestnuts, popcorn and cinema screenings at the Zagreb Film Festival.
