Greek - distinctive Croatian white grape variety, which you`ll probably taste if you have rented an apartment, a room or a vacation house in Lumbarda, because it is grown almost only one here. The tradition of viticulture in Lumbarda is very long, but long is the process of adjustment of Greek to unique picturesque sandy soil here mixed with red soil (Quaternary coastal palaeodunes). In recent history, wine story in Lumbarda is turning in an even better way. Wines are increasingly better and more numerous, and there are many investments in enology and viticulture. Earlier devastated and abandoned fields are revitalised after more than a half century of neglect. The vineyards stretch for about 40 hectares, only 20 meters above sea level, and it can be reached by narrow sandy streets of Lumbarda, passing crucifix and moving on further to the gnarled branches. Breeding ground for the Greek is hot and sandy, passing through these distinctive vineyards leads to the secluded but beautiful and famous sandy beach Przina. Greek wine is recognizable for its golden color with a hint of green, dry character, and its share of alcohol generally below 14%. It has sweet and distinctive flavor, so you can drink it as an aperitif. You can taste it if you take a tour accross Lombarda and meet its hospitable natives in small local taverns where wine can be purchased at a reasonable price.
