Velo blato Pag

But Velo blato Pag (large mud), is not a curative mud, at least not in the same sense. Its healing powers have a different nature to us, who have rented accommodation on Pag. Velo Blato is a freshwater lake located on the south side of the island, a protected ornithological reserve with over 160 species of birds. It is also the last European stop of the birds to their flight towards the southern parts of Africa. Velo blato can be reached by road from the direction of Vlasic, with Povljane and Dnjiške near by. It is only 10 kilometers away from the town of Pag. On the 462 hectares of the surface are nesting 66 bird species, while other species of birds are only passing by. In spring, when the seeds sprout and everything turn green due to the warm southerly winds, they all meet here, coming from the mouth of the Nile, or from the African wetlands even more distant. In autumn, when the soil becomes golden and rustles with the flashing of dry scrub, you can see them while whistling stories of the call of the wild, which is stronger than them, even stronger than the man himself. The lake of Velo blato is rich in freshwater fish. Fishing is not prohibited, but it is limited. Until you disturb the vulnerable bird world, you are welcome here, no matter if you are armed with a fishing pole, camera, or simply by the patience and wisdom, like the birds traveling to unknown.
