Terme Topusko is located in Topusko, a small town about 70 kilometers away from Zagreb, somewhere exactly halfway between towns of Karlovac and Sisak. If you have rented accommodation in Zagreb and the surrounding area, Topusko can easily be a destination for a day trip or a plan for a weekend and relaxation in the fertile valley of the river Glina into which the streams Perna, Čemernica and Glinica flow. Terme Topusko is surrounded by forests, Petrova mountain on one side over it, and Zrinska mountain on the other.
Topusko was called Ad fines in Roman times, which means At the end of the road, but for most who visit Topusko it is just a new beginning because one relaxes so nicely here, we could say one reset themselves. We consume a pleasant 27 to 34 degrees of healing thermal water of the indoor and outdoor pool in Topusko in every part of the year. We are not alone in the pool, sulfur bacteria and blue-green filamentous algae are mingling with us. The water is 90 degrees at the spring and algae are born in it. If the temperature drops below 35, they hibernate and come to life again at 60°C. Allegedly, this alga dates back to the time when life on Earth flourished only in water, and it can be found, except in Topusko, only in Yellowstone, Japan and Kamchatka today.
One of the Topusko legends claims that the Holy Grail was submerged right here, hence the magical power of the Topusko water. There is a hotel within the spa that was built during the socialist era and has changed a bit since then, so it is a kind of curiosity, as the legacy from the 20th century. It has a restaurant with a fine selection of dishes and drinks from continental Croatia.
