The bay and the beach of Svežanj in Kostrena
Southeast of Rijeka there is the bay and the beach of Svežanj in Kostrena, one of the most interesting coastal areas of the Kvarner Bay. The beach is partly pebbled and partly rocky, thus all the generations who enjoy sea pleasures are gathering here in the summer months - families with children and young people who are happy to enjoy recreational and fun activities along the beach. The beach is not large and it is sufficient for about 150 swimmers who come here on foot from the center of the town with well-groomed promenade. There is no parking places along the beach, but it is worth to stretch your feet to get acquainted with the balmy sea and deep shade of the pine forest of the bay of Svežanj. However, life on the surface of the sea in the bay is not so much worth the attention, as intriguing is the one below the surface. Svežanj is the central part of the protected submarine area due to the rare species inhabiting its submarine. The beach itself is equipped with lounges, showers and parasols, and there is also a catering facility for extra refreshments in the hot summer months.
