The Shipwreck Vis near Premantura is the unique diving attraction - the first ship in Croatia that is deliberately submerged in tourist and sporting purposes. Vis was the flagship of the fleet of the former Yugoslavia. It was built in 1953 in Pula, as a luxury yacht of 58 meters long and 8 and a half width. The deck of the ship was covered with as many as 6 cm of thick Teak wood, and the boat once was powered by two engines with a thousand horsepower each and a maximum speed of 17 knots. Vis was often replacing the more famous Galeb heading the Yugoslav Navy, while the glorious ship was sailing across the international waters or was repaired. The ship Vis was bought in 2012 by an entrepreneur from Pula to be submerged in 2016 as a diving attraction along the west coast of Cape Kamenjak near Premantura. The wreck is at 33 meters deep with very good visibility and 35-minute dive duration. Divers who visited Vis under the blue Adriatic Sea claim that the ship is still in a very good condition and that beautiful samples of the grouper live on its decks. Diving on the shipwreck Vis is recommended for experienced divers, from April to November with an average sea temperature of 12 to 25 ° C. If you have found accommodation in Premantura, enjoy diving in Istria.
