Savudrija is a village in Croatia and it belongs to municipality of Umag which is only 9 kilometers far away. It is also a small peninsula. Savudrija is the most western tourist spot of Croatia. It is first time mentioned in the year 1177. Village Savudrija has only 241 inhabitants, according to population census from the year 2001. It was most populated in the year 1931, and then there were 603 inhabitants. Nowadays people in Savudrija are mostly engaged in agriculture and fishing, but tourism is also important industry. Savudrija has a long history in tourism. It is a small place, but offer many possibilities for quality holidays. Main accommodation types are private apartments. Savudrija has only about 100 households, but many of them offer rooms or apartments for rent. Also is possible to rent a villa, and many villas are built at the beginning of 20th century and will allow you to feel breath of that time. Also is possible to stay in hotel bungalows or in auto camp. Sport and recreation are exceptional for such a small place. Savudrija is very popular destination for wind surfers. Great conditions for wind surfing attract people from other countries too. The best time for wind surfing are September, October and November. During the season are organized many events for the tourist, so they can enjoy dancing nights and many other regular event during the summer. Very interesting is Savudrija night, event which is held in October. Gastronomic offer is great. As Savudria is a part of Istria, you could try local Istrian meals, just as meals from the inside of Istria, but also could enjoy in sea meals, meat or famous Italian food. The most interesting sight in Savudrija is lighthouse, which is 29 meters high and its light is visible 32 kilometers far away.
