Rovinj is town on the west coast of Istria. Alongside with Porec, it is the most powerful center in Istria in view of tourism, and one of the most powerfully at the Adriatic. Rovinj region counts 80 km2. On the north, Rovinj boarders with district Vrsar and they share Limski channel, and on the south with district Bale.
Climate is Mediterranean; Average yearly temperature is 16 degrees Celsius. Average temperature in July is 22,3 degrees Celsius, so that means that night are warm, but not too hot, and during the day is hot and suitable for enjoying the sea.
Rovinj archipelago counts 22 small islands, from which biggest are St. Andrija and St. Katarina. So all that gives to it special charm.
Population in Rovinj, according to population census from year 2001, counts 14234 inhabitants. Croats makes only about 66%, and there are 11,5% people with roots from Italy, and many other national minorities.
When Rovinj is mentioned somewhere, you would often hear it is called pearl of the Adriatic. That's why it is always crowded with tourists. Dominates guests from Germany, Italy, Austria and Netherlands, but you can also find tourist from all over the world. At the Rovinj area can be found 10 hotels, but dominates private accommodation. Also, there are many camps for camp lovers. Everyone will be able to find their own preferred type of accommodation. Even lovers of nudist camps will find exactly that kind of camp in Rovinj. Little more conservative guest could book theirs place in regular camp.
Rovinj has rich history. One of the stories is that at dawn, 13th July in year 800th was mysteriously sailed sarcophagus with body of St. Eufemia. Today, it is interesting to see statue of St. Eufemia, which can be found by the church which you can miss from wherever you look to Rovinj. That church brings name of St. Eufemia.
