At Punta Christo peninsula near Pula a fortress of the same name was bult in mid 19th century. The forested peninsula is a tourist area in Stignan, the suburb of Pula, close to many rooms, apartments and houses for rent. The northern coast of the Pula bay looks at Brijuni National Park and is a magical place with hidden coves, beautiful sandy beaches and hills, such as the one where the fort Punta Christo stands. Austro-Hungarian monarchy raises this vast building just 45 meters above sea level, which extends over 10,000 square meters. Punta Christo was once the most important and strongest point of defense of the Austrian fleet which was anchored in the bay Fazana.
