Prozura is one of the oldest settlements on the island of Mljet, hidden in the inland of the island under the hills of Muzanje and Spas. There is the Kastio still there in the midst of the settlement, a square tower from the 17th century in which the population was hiding when they have noticed the pirate ships in the Mljet aquatorium. Prozura is mentioned in 1345 for the first time, and it has been inhabited constantly since its foundation until today. The inhabitants of the past lived mostly in fisheries and ships repairs, due to the harbour that they have founded in the nearest bay.
