Povlja is a small tourist village on the island Brač in Split’s archipelago. It is located on the North side of the island, 10 kilometers away from Sumartin, a harbor where the ferryboat from Makarska docks.
Povlja counts 300 of permanent residents and a large number of vacation houses, holiday apartments and villas. It is a peaceful place, ideal for calm family vacation. Although, the ones in favor of active vacation, can easily find all kinds of amusement for themselves. Although small, Povlja has rich history; local church is built on the remains of early Cristian Basilica from 5th century. It was devastated in Venetian attack in 12. century but the door inscription, written by the first Croatian sculptor Radonja, is still there.
Besides historical and cultural altitudes, sports and trips, guest can enjoy beautiful bays and coves, Povlja is surrounded by, with bluish beaches shining on the sun. Travna, Smokvica, Tičja luka, Tatinja, Luke are just the few names of the coves where the beaches can be found to fit anyone’s taste and relax mind and body.
