For the last ten years, every first weekend in December, winemakers of Pelješac peninsula are opening doors of their cellars to treat all of you who dare to rent an apartment, a room or a vacation house in this hostile time of the year. Still, people of Pelješac do not suffer from lack of hospitality; those two days are kept for joyful gathering in honor of the wine, those ones from Pelješac, which are well known in Croatia and outside it`s borders. The most famous Pelješac wine is Dingač. It is the first red Croatian wine recognized abroad. Plavac mali is the autochthon sort of grapes which withstands winds along the sunny and stiff coastal line of peninsula. Dingač is all the best of this wild and resistant sort, sort which is also called `blood of the Earth´. It also gives Postup, another red famous Pelješac wine. It is unforgettable even if you had it a glass more. Pelješac cellars – open door days are held in Ston, Orebić and Trpanj, as well, and gathering twenty something winemakers in a tight schedule of events honoring wine. From tasting wine goulash to young wine, with the introducing of local winemakers, you are having an unforgettable weekend ahead. It will leave the taste of grapes on your lips and you'll experience the simplicity and the beauty of the peninsula dissolved in a a glass of thick red nectar for the awakening of all senses.
