Osor Cathedral is a Renaissance triple-naved basilica located in the center of the town of Osor on the island of Cres. The builder of the bell tower next to the cathedral is known – it is the work of the renowned master Jakov Galet from Krk, dating back to 1575. The cathedral is constructed in the Renaissance style but incorporates some Gothic elements. The main architectural feature of the cathedral is a triple-naved basilica with a transept and a polygonal apse. The facade of the cathedral features a lavishly decorated portal with a statue of the Virgin Mary in a lunette. The interior of the cathedral is richly adorned. The main altar is in the Baroque style and houses a 17th-century painting of the Assumption of Mary. The cathedral also houses several other valuable artworks, including altarpieces, sculptures, and frescoes. Osor Cathedral serves as a significant cultural center in Osor, hosting numerous cultural events, including the Osor Musical Evenings.
