Small town Drivenik is settled near an old Frankopan castle, completely abandoned today. On top of a hill that offers a breathtaking view of the valley of Vinodol and Lake Tribalj, the walls and towers of the castle are left which are rarely well-preserved of 13th-century parish church of San Doimo, and the church of St. Stephen from the 15th century, the parsonage and the old school. The entrance to the castle had once a drawbridge over the moat. The moat, high walls, four towers and a wooden walkway that surrounded the fortress, were built to defend the city. Inside the castle there were residential buildings, cellars and tanks. The name of Drivenik is mentioned in the Vinodol Code already, which was the oldest written document of the Croatian nation, where the inhabitants of Drivenik were one of the signatories. Today the castle is a reconstructed building, which is home to numerous shows and concerts, while the magnificent history is celebrated in the days of knights in May. Must visit if you have rented accommodation in Crikvenica and want to find out more about its history and culture.
