Novalja is a town located on
the island of Pag. It includes 10 villages. Located in the bay on the
north side of the island. That is an excellent geographical position as
it is in the middle of an important sea-way which connects the northern
and southern Adriatic. Transport connections to the mainland from the
island are great because during the summer, ferries on the line Prizna
(coast) - Zigljen (island) sail all day and night. Also, numerous daily
bus lines connect Novalja with almost all parts of Croatia.
According
to population census from year 2001, Novalja has 3350 inhabitants.
Accommodation capacities are much greater and the number of tourists
could reach 40,000 who are in every day.
Novalja in recent years become a very strong tourist destination,
known far beyond Croatia, and has thus become a hit destination on the
Adriatic, especially for young people. Accommodation capacities are
enough to host large number of tourists, either in the hotels or private apartments.
Definitely worth seeing is the City Museum
in Novalja, especially because the inside of the building is
underground water supply line which is entirely man-made carved in
stone. Also, a few kilometers near Novalja tourists are always
impressed by shape in stone known as the Paski trokut (Pags triangle)
which is supposed to have originated when a UFO landing.
