Even if you have not rented accommodation on Losinj, it pays to pull up to the island to see the unique museum in this region. This is not just a museum, it is home Apoxyomenos which emerged from the sea in the vicinity of the town in 1996. The bronze statue of a young athlete comes from the 1st or 2nd century BC, and it is remarkable due to its incredible preservation, artistic value, and beauty.
The museum is located in the Kvarner palace on the waterfront in Mali Losinj. There were many artists involved in creating its concept, along with the authors of the project Sasa Randic and Idis Turato. Visiting Museum of Apoxyomenos in Mali Lošinj is not only an opportunity to introduce this unique sculpture but also the opportunity to experience another journey, a trip to the centuries before Christ hidden in the sea of Losinj. The journey takes place through 9 scenes, temporal, spatial and auditory formed in different ways. Going through the various "rooms" visitor is preparing his/her senses preparing to enter the "White room" which is devoid of color and sound and in which resides the host, Apoxyomenos himself. But this is not the last room, after a silent, but extremely emotional meeting with Apoxyomenos, visit ends in "Kaleidoscope room" which is actually a lookout on the roof of the Museum, whose effects with mirrors are to be experienced rather than read about them. So go for more information and reservations via info@muzejapoksiomena.hr.
