Korculans are proud of the Moreska. It is transmitted from generation to generation, from father to son, and one of the most important skills of each native of Korcula is to be moreskant. Therefore, Moreska is more than just fencing game for Korculans, it is a way of life, and important feature in every Korculan family. Moreska became an essential part of tourism and touristic product of town of Korcula in recent decades due to the great interest of visitors of this astonishing island. Tourists can enjoy it in the ambience of the original Korcula's towers and ramparts in the evening for a 1-2 times a week. The music, colorful costumes, swords spark and glow of torches merge to bring the walls of Korcula alive. The most important annual appearance is on July 29, at the day of St. Todor, patron Saint of the city. If happens that you have rented apartment, room or vacation house in Korcula on that occasion, you`ll get to meet the best Korcula moreskants, well-trained swordsman to carry out the fight, which consists of seven different sword figures preceded by Sfida - a challenge, probably the oldest moreska figure where at the end, of course, good triumphs over evil.
