Ćokovac Monastery near Tkon on Pašman is an attractive building on the hill of the same name. It catches the eye with its dominant position and typical island architecture when we are approaching Tkon from the sea. It is the only active Benedictine monastery in Croatia at the moment. Named Monastery of St. Cosmas and Damian, this interesting example of a sacral building dates back to 1059. It was built by the Bishop of Biograd Theodoric on the foundations of a Byzantine fortress and an early Christian church. It has been destroyed, damaged and rebuilt several times over the centuries to remain the famous Glagolitic center.
