Marija Gorica is a settlement and municipality in Croatia, about 30 kilometers away from the centre of Zagreb to the Northwest. It is a hilly region that descends in its flat part to the river of Sutla and the border with Slovenia. The higher points of that area record an altitude of only 300 meters above sea level, yet they offer a magical view of the Žumberak and Samobor mountains in the West, all the way to the town of Velika Gorica in the Southeast, which all can be spotted from the southern slopes of Marija Gorica. Once a village on the edge of Zagreb County, today it is a favourite settlement among young families who choose to live outside the urban centre, but close enough to the metropolis and all the amenities it offers. Marija Gorica has everything - a school, a clinic, shops and other institutions that are available to residents and their guests, still preserves the beauty of untouched nature, the smell of roasted chestnuts on foggy autumn mornings, the freshness of dew on summer nights, the peace and quiet of golden vineyards and fields on scattered hills. Private holiday houses in Marija Gorica are perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of city centres, yet close to all the benefits of a big city and urban areas. Zagreb is within easy reach, as are a number of spas in Zagorje and Slovenia, so Marija Gorica is the perfect base for enjoying the charms of continental tourism. There are many of farms in the vicinity with an offer of excellent local food to taste the beauty of Zagorje and the surroundings of Zagreb in plates and wine glasses. Cheers!
