Seline is one of the entrances to the National Park Paklenica, more precisely located in the vicinity of Mala Paklenica, which is the area of exceptional beauty and nature preservation. Preserved nature becomes a synonym for wilderness today, thus Mala Paklenica is the area of wilderness in its original sense, a place where we forget all the weights of everyday life and let ourselves to the primary senses and discover the intuition that drives us. The trail will drive us through a 2-kilometer long canyon of Mala Paklenica, one of the two permanent streams of South Velebit. When we say it is permanent, it does not mean that Mala Paklenica never dries out. The canyon is mostly without water in dry summer months, containing only a few cracks of water in the groves and caves that are formed by a torrent of humid months of the year. The canyon is steep and narrow, it climbs up to 300 meters, but rock climbing is forbidden because of the original plant and animal communities that inhabit them. Mala Paklenica springs under Vlaškograd from several springs and is 12.5 kilometers long. It is dry in the lower course of the drainage from turn to Njive Lekine. There are several tributaries, the most interesting of which is Orljača, which also drains in the summer. If you have stayed in one of the apartments, rooms or holiday homes in Seline, do not miss the opportunity to explore the canyon of Mala Paklenica and visit the Educational Center at the entrance to the canyon where you will meet protected owls and birds of prey from the endangered areas of Croatia. Make the Mala Paklenica Education Center Seline a source of your awareness of nature conservation and a starting point for discovering the beauty of Paklenica and Velebit.
