Mailath Castle Donji Miholjac

Mailath Castle is one of the best-preserved castles in all of Croatia and one of the most beautiful in Slavonia. It was built in the 19th century for Count Đuro Mailath, a Hungarian politician and the prefect of Baranja County. The castle was the residence of the Mailath family until the Second World War. After the war, it was nationalized and turned into an administrative building. It was built in the English style. Mailath Castle Donji Miholjac is a one-story building with a symmetrical facade. The facade features a central entrance with a balcony and two side wings. It is surrounded by a park with a fountain and sculptures. The interior is richly decorated. The castle has several salons, guest rooms, and a library. Today, the castle houses the offices of the city administration and the land registry and can be visited by tourists.
