Do you know which point on the map of Europe has the brightest sky and the least light pollution on the continent? Many claim that it is the island of Lastovo, one of the most amazing islands of the southern Adriatic whose sky counts at least one thousand stars more than any other point in Europe. And how many stars can you see with your bare eye in the sky? Some claim to be around 6,000, but they are hard to see all at once due to the haze of the horizon and the constant movement of the heavens. We'll have the chance to learn how many of them are really above us at LUZ Festival on Lastovo in late June. The Lastovo in the stars Festival (cro. Lastovo u zvijezdama/LUZ) is a chance to visit this fairytale island, which will be the stage for a number of events devoted to nature and culture, music sensations and educational workshops, for three days in June. We can choose between a range of comfortable apartments, rooms and holiday houses on Lastovo or camp in Zaglav, and LUZ will lead us over the pearl coves and introduce us to the magical Mediterranean culture and vegetation of the island. Lastovo is a nature park, and the Festival is organized by Kontrast NGO in cooperation with Lastovo islands Nature Park, Municipality of Lastovo, Lastovo Tourist board and many others to bring people back to nature and help preserve biodiversity and the uniqueness of the island's ecosystem. The daylight is booked for workshops that highlight the ecological efforts of nature preservation, and the night is devoted to astronomical studies and stars, including those music ones, thus dance and song will merge us into a unique joy and love for life and nature. The open-air cinema is just one of the locations of the Festival and the rest are scattered all over the island so we can get to know the wonderful world of Lastovo in just a few days. The program is intended for all generations, so book your accommodation in Lastovo today and allow yourself to fall in love once more, in Lastovo islands, the destination of the most shining night sky and the unforgettable festivals.
