If you have rented an apartment, a room or a holiday house in Zupa Dubrovacka, one of the destinations you should definitely draw into your maps is Kupari. The beach in Kupari is a beautiful sandy pebble bay, but Kupari is much more than a beach that slowly descends from the drywall to the crystal clear sea. For Croatian citizens Kupari is the symbol of past and hope for the future, the symbol of possibilities and the reminder of how much life can sometimes be complicated. Namely, a closed tourist complex was erected in the 1950s in Kupari, the one for military officers of the former state army and their families. Today, the military-tourist complex is almost completely destroyed, but despite the ruins screaming out of tall grass and among pinned palms, it still gives the impression of the grandeur and splendour it had once. Nowadays, a few decades after the war, Kupari complex is only at its beginning to be reconstructed, along with the beach that was once part of a complex of 340 thousand square meters. Now you can find sun loungers and umbrellas for rent and showers on the beach, and there are several catering facilities nearby. Nevertheless, the beach kept its wilderness at the foot of the Goricina and Pelegrin hills. Discover the marvellous green groves along the beach and the Taranta creek that flows into the sea. Leave the complex to the past times and some future investors, and enjoy the charms of the parish coast and the Mediterranean summer on the Kupari beach as if tomorrow will never come.
