Krk is a town located on the island Krk, which is officially the biggest Croatian island. According to some data, Cres is bigger, but probably are just meters in question. Geographical location of the island and its good connections with the mainland could be called the primary advantage of Krk, as a tourist destination. Airport is located on the northern part of the island. Ferry transport is active during the whole year, and also connects Krk with other islands in the neighborhood. City of Krk, situated along a large bay on the southwestern part of the island, is a business, administrative and cultural center. Area of city of Krk is 18 km2.
Population is 5583, and is one of the most crowded towns on the Croatian islands. The whole around Krk, end especially the city, to the tourism, and is extremely rich with culture and history.
Krk has many hotels, but also have one hostel. There are also many auto camps, and especially private accommodations. As tourism is a main branch at Krk, it is not a problem to rent a room or apartment in some family house. Offer of active holidays is also very good, so tourists could go diving, take a boat tour, play sports and many other interesting activities. There are also many bars and one disco club.
