Križ (the Cross) is located about 50 kilometers from Zagreb to the southeast. The picturesque town offers affordable accommodation in Križ and an opportunity to quickly escape from the hustle and bustle of the urban area of the capital city. Križ got its name from the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which was first mentioned back in 1334. Even today, that church occupies the central part of the settlement in Križ Park, and the Chapel of the Holy Cross is on the opposite side of the street. Križ had a church school since the 17th century, and it was one of the first cities on the continent to introduce public lighting. The once-strong textile industry in Križ has now been replaced by wood. The natural beauty of the region is an invitation to an active vacation in Križ and to forget about everyday stressful situations.
