Korenica is a settlement blessed with the excellent geographical position. With the placement near Plitvica lakes, namely Korenica is laying down at the foot of the mountain chain Lička Plješevica in Bijelo Polje. Korenica history dates back to the Middle ages when it was funded as a defensive village at the foot of the old Croatian fort Mrsinj , which is known as the center of Krbavska diocese used to be. As a worthy fortress, Korenica was the stronghold of few great battles that were fought in this place, especially during the Turkish conquest. That way, one Croatian monarch, right on this site, defeated Ottoman army, back in 1500.
