Seget Donji is just two kilometers away from Trogir. If you rent an apartment, room or a holiday house, in this area, you`ll be able to enjoy a fantastic fusion of history and modern lifestyle. Medieval buildings, well preserved, refined by architectural expressions of the following time. All of that can be found here, in Seget Donji, gathered in small urban landscape of unique beauty. The heart of town is the castle, from 16th century, which was made upon the image of the imposing Diocletian Palace in Split. January 13 1564 can be considered as the date of creation of Seget, since that was the date when Augustin Bembo, the Trogir Prince, issued a decree to build a tower here and the village for villagers from the surrounding hills to have a place to hide from the Turks. Until the 17th century, Seget was called Castle Rotunda due to Jacob Rotunda for whose it was primarily built. The building itself was rectangular, with well preserved four coats towers and three city gates today. There`s a bell tower of the baroque church of Our Lady of the Rosary looming above the castle, both built in the 18th century. In the church you can see a Gothic cross from 14th century and a wooden triptych which was painted by one of the great medieval Croatian painter, Blaz Jurjev Trogiranin.
