Jelsa is a town on the island Hvar. It is located in the bay, on the northern side, facing Makarska. It is fishing and tourist place. Population of Jelsa district is 3656 inhabitants. Most of them are either fishermen either employers in tourism, or sometimes both.
Jelsa has accommodation capacities in hotels, camps, private apartments and private villas. Tourists like Jelsa, as it is typical island town. Peaceful, with very good gastronomic offer as fish is always fresh, and meet meals are prepared on a specific way, beaches are beautiful, and during the summer something is always happening.
Every year in August, one event is very interesting. That is festivity of wine. On that day all place go crazy, all bars and restaurants are open till early hours, and on the streets are young and old people till the morning. Something what should be experienced.
