Japlenški peak Delnice is all that Gorski kotar is known for, only in a smaller forest-park format settled a few kilometres from the centre of Delnice to the West. Moreover, the forest descends to the very centre of the city and forms a unique natural whole with the city park. Several hiking trails lead to the Japlenški vrh lookout point through a dense forest community of fir, mountain maple and beech, inhabited by numerous animal species. It is not uncommon to meet timid deer on this trail, and the occasional bear wanders into the park-forest, but they also avoid the paths that are marked by human feet. Japlenški vrh is 842 meters above sea level. There is an old 70-meter-high ski jump on its northeastern slope. Once upon a time, jumpers competed here, jumping from the ski jump straight to the city stadium. Today, this ski jump is awaiting reconstruction, and all those who rent accommodation in Delnice, have nothing to wait for, but to start exploring and enjoying the freshness of Japlenški peak - park-forest in Delnice immediately.
