Hiking on Lošinj - Osorčica is a mountain on the island of Lošinj, part of the Dinarides that stretch from the Soča River all the way to northern Albania. By definition, mountains are elevated parts of the earths crust, higher than 500 meters, and our Osorčica has 588, and is the first mountain that has attracted the interest of tourists on the Adriatic coast. Rudolf Habsburg climbed it as early as 1885, with trails from Nerezine and Osor lead to the highest peak of Televrina today, as well as transversal from the direction of Ćunski for more endurable mountaineers. If you have rented an apartment, room or holiday house on Lošinj and decide to explore the beauties of Osorčica, you can also take the path from Nerezine to the top of Sv. Nicholas or St. Mikule, as the locals call it. This peak is only slightly lower than the highest (557 m), and leads us through the untamed beauty of the Mediterranean and the layers of turbulent history of the island of Lošinj. Tools and ceramics were found from the Stone Age in the cave Vela Jama on Osorčica, and there is also the cave of Sv. Gaudencije, who, they claim, lived in it and expelled all venomous snakes from the Cres-Lošinj archipelago. They also say that whoever takes the stone from this cave will be protected from wild animals on their paths, and the path here can easily lead you to a mountain lodge nearby. It is open all summer long and it is a favorite place for lovers of night sky gazing. There is so much to see even during a day time - You will never forget the sight of the big blue and the scattered islands on it.
