Funtana is small village, located at the Istrian peninsula, north of Vrsar. It lies on the both sides of road to Porec.
Funtana is a small town, according to population census from year 2001, total population is 831. People there live mostly from fishing and tourism. In the past, fishing was main branch there, but somewhere in 1960s, is recorded more intensive development of tourism. So nowadays, main occupation is renting rooms. As typical Istrian small town, located on the seaside, Funtana offers many attractions. There can be found a lot of sports and recreational facilities. So you can enjoy water sports like yachting, diving, water skiing etc, and you can also play tennis, football, miniature golf, bowling, and even horseback riding.
Gastronomic offer is also on very good level. You can get seafood, but also you can order delicious meals of ingredients which can be found deep in Istria. So tourists who like to try local food will not be disappointed.
Climate is Mediterranean, which means that during summer you can feel warm of summer, and winters are mild, with rain, and it's very rare for snow to be seen there.
One of the specific features of the town is a great number of private apartments and rooms for rent, and households which offers suits. Also, there are a few campsites, and also a hotel village was built.
Nature is beautiful. Sea is green-blue because of the sand in the shallow area. Beaches are with sand on the entrance, but also there are beaches which have gravel entrance.
From Funtana, Motovun is not far away, so it would be a good choice to visit it. Especially at the end of July when you can attend Motovun film festival. Also, take a chance to visit many medieval towns on the peaks of small hills. They are located only half an hour drives from Funtana.
