Maksimir Football Stadium in Zagreb is another landmark on the eastern edge of the narrow town center, a place that has been a hot spot on the urban Zagreb scene since the beginning of the 20th century. The Maksimir Stadium was built in 1912 and has been upgraded and reconstructed several times. The former Maksimir corn fields were turned into a football lawn for the HAŠK - Croatian Academic Sports Club from Zagreb. HAŠK, which was founded a year earlier, took its first match at the Maksimir Stadium next year, on May 5th. Since then, the Stadium of Maksimir is the center of football life in Croatia and the dream of boys who spin the ball on meadows and parks of Croatian towns and villages. By the middle of the 20th century, Maksimir had a wooden tribune, and the construction of the first stand began in 1948 when the stadium building was erected along with standing spots. The western tribune and athletic track were completed in 1954. Despite the numerous interventions and upgrades, the Maksimir Stadium has not been completed until today. Currently, it has a capacity of about 37,000 seats, and hosting belongs to the Football Club Dinamo Zagreb and the Croatian National Football Team. If you have rented an apartment, room or vacation house in Zagreb, you will be able to find Maksimir easily due to the Zagreb Zoo, the Sports and Recreation Center Svetice along with Swimming Pool, the Maksimir Park and the numerous catering facilities to enjoy in the chosen company, and a food or drink on the terraces of this forested and peaceful urban area.
