Dubrovnik is a town on the south of the Croatian seaside. It belongs to Dubrovacko–Neretvanska County, and it is its administrative center. It lies on the southern slopes and in the foot of the hill Srdj. Wider Dubrovnik area covers the narrow coastal belt about 250 km long, from Klek on the west to Sutorina and the cape Prevlaka on the east.
Climate is Mediterranean, with an average annual temperature of 16,4 degrees Celsius. An average temperature of January is 7,9 degrees Celsius, and of August is 24,2 degrees Celsius. It has more than 250 sunny days in a year, and 109 rainy days, but during the summer only 14 rainy days. From stronger winds is well protected by the hill Srdj and islet Lokrum. Total population of Dubrovnik, according to population census from the year 2001, is 43770 inhabitants.
