Buta Cave - Sveti Petar na Moru is a natural landmark and attraction located just over a kilometer from the center of the village. If you rent accommodation in Sveti Petar na Moru, you will find this cave after about a fifteen-minute leisurely uphill walk, in a canyon between two hills. A cave mound and a hillfort at an altitude of 156 meters surround the area in front of Buta, known as Pećinska Draga. The Buta Cave - Sveti Petar na Moru itself is located 76 meters above sea level. The entrance to the cave is below-stepped limestone terraces. In the mid-20th century, the cave was explored and stone tools from the Neolithic period were found. In and around the cave, fragments of pottery from the Roman rule of this area were discovered. Until the 1960s, it served as a shelter for shepherds, and locals still remember how they used to take their sheep into the cave during bad weather. Today, there are no sheep, and the cave is an interesting site and an opportunity to explore the surroundings of the village and its millennia-old history.
