Split is one of the most populated Croatian cities and the largest one on the coast of the Croatian Adriatic. This multiplicity does not disturb the natural harmony of the coast, thus we can also enjoy the beaches in Split, with the most famous beach of Bacvice or Bace, as the locals call it. If you rent an apartment, room or holiday house in Split, you can walk to Bace beach - the beach is only 10 minutes away on foot from the centre - or take advantage of public transport and large parking lot near the beach. Bacvice beach is located in a shallow sandy bay, and its attraction has been recognized almost 100 years ago, since this is a favourite city beach. In the last couple of decades of the past century, when the beaches were massively "cultivated", part of the beach was cemented, and many bathers are eager to relax on deck chairs under parasols there. The bars and nightclubs are popular sites on Bacvice beach, but the night hours here are not only reserved for dancers. There is a floodlight set up here on the beach from 2005 so that numerous picigin gamers can extend their fun and recreation to hours. Bacvice is the most famous beach just for the picigin which is played here at all times of the year and in all weather conditions. The sloping beach with pleasant sandy shallows is ideal for this ball game and the main goal of the game is the most attractive jump by returning the ball to one of the teammates in the round. Picigin is also attractive for watching, as well as Bacvice beach in Split in summer and in winter time too.
