The Opeka Arboretum is located next to the castle of the same name, enjoying protection since 1947. Allegedly shaped in the distant year 1700, today it features romantic landscaped forms. It was not designed as an arboretum but rather as a park for the castle, yet its richness of plant species has classified it among Croatian arboretums, and is the only one on the continent. The area has specific microclimatic characteristics, allowing numerous exotic plant species brought by Count Bombelles from various parts of the world to thrive. With an area of over 50 hectares, the arboretum in Vinica has winding paths, making it an excellent opportunity for a stroll with children and to learn about the wonderful plant world of our planet.
