Vodice is not only a resort town on the coast, with a great offer of apartments, rooms, vacation homes, and wild night parties. There is much more than that with one curiosity which can be found right there on the shore in a house marked by the number 123. The Aquarium and the Museum of maritime tradition was opened in that house was opened in 2006. There is more than1500 exhibits telling every story that can be told about the sea and the maritime activities. Through 16 aquariums, equipped in the most modern way, you will meet more than 150 species of the Adriatic Sea. There is also an astonishing malacological collection, with diving suits exposure, since the days when the island of Krapanj began its tradition of sponge fishing. A unique collection of underwater archaeological artifacts in Croatia will delight you with the collection of amphorae and models of ships which sailed the Adriatic since the 17th century onward. There are also models of famous ships that have broken the waves under the sky, which were made by the famous modeler Split, Tonci Njegovan. You will be amazed by the patience spent on construction of larger models, which took months to be made. The same patience was essential to the sailors and captains, who have adopted the reticence of the fish, the introversion of the shells and the prudence of crabs in battle with the sea. The battles gave birth to love between the sea and people, and love for the sea sparkles from every angle of this Museum on its 600 square meters. Swim through the seas of love in the sea aquarium and maritime history museum every day from 10 am to 22, with the more information available at www.aquarium-vodice.com.
