Vodnjan is in Istria. It is situated 10 km north on Pula, on elevation of 135 m. It lies on area of 100 km2. Town Vodnjan has four small villages, they are Gajana, Galizana, Peroj and Vodnjan.
Total population is 5651. In Vodnjan live many nationalities, so Croats makes only about 55%, and there is a lot of Italians which makes about 20% of total population. Some older residents still speaks local language called Burbarian. Just as in other towns at the seaside, Vodnjan has hot summers and mild winter.
According to legend, Vodnjan were developed from the association of seven villas which were part of colonial goods of Pula. In Vodnjan, you can find a lot of apartments for rent, or you can rent just a room in a family house. Also, if you like agro tourism, you will find it in Vodnjan.
In the Church of St. Blaz, it can be seen world famous collection of relics, just as Vodnjans mummies of saints. Inside the old city walls, in the core of town, you can find original look from the past. Church of St. Jakov can be found in the core of town. In town you can also see Gothic palace, just as faces carved into walls. Another church which is worth to be seen is Church of St. Marija Karmelska.
